KITCHEN
THE RULE β€” ONE SENTENCE
You cannot volley the ball while standing inside the kitchen β€” or on the kitchen line.
The kitchen zone is a 7-foot area on each side of the net. Hitting the ball out of the air (a volley) from inside it is a fault. Everything else β€” entering it, standing in it, hitting a bounced ball from inside it β€” is completely legal.
